A functional equation of linear iteration

Abstract

We study one-to-one positive solutions of a functional equation of linear iteration in the case that at least one of the iteration indices is nonpositive and, consequently, its characteristic equation may have two different positive roots. Our results can be used also to a functional equation of nonlinear iteration.
